Comic-Con 2018: Star Trek Discovery Panel

By Creative Media Times

The cast and crew of Star Trek: Discovery were at Comic-Con on Friday where fans were shown with the first trailer for Season 2.

The panel included Executive Producers Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin, stars Sonequa Martin-Green (“Michael Burnham”), Shazad Latif (“Ash Tyler”), Doug Jones (“Saru”), Mary Wiseman (“Sylvia Tilly”), Wilson Cruz (“Dr. Hugh Culber”), Anthony Rapp (“Paul Stamets”) and Mary Chieffo (“L’Rell”). It was Moderated by Season 2 newcomer Tig Notaro, who plays Chief Engineer Reno.

Starting it all off was a big reveal from Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman: “I can tell you that, yes, you will be seeing Spock this season.”

To what extent Spock will make an appearance remains unknown. The trailer, set to Lenny Kravitz’s Fly Away, did show a brief glimpse of Michael Burnham in Spock’s quarters observing the area.

“Spock is linked to these signals, and he needs help,” Michael says in the trailer.

Joining this time is Anson Mount, also in the panel, as Captain Christopher Pike who is taking command of the ship. “This is awkward, but the best way to get into a cold stream is to jump right in,” he says.

In September, “Short Treks” is expected to be released, which are four short films focusing on some of the characters such as Saru, Tilly and Mudd.

Season 2 will start airing in January next year with the premiere episode directed by Alex Kurtzman.

“Breaking Bad” Cast Reunite At SDCC 2018

By Creative Media Times

“I love Jesse, I love that guy so much, I miss him!” Paul said of his Jesse Pinkman, cooking partner and former student to Bryan Cranston’s Walter White during a 10th anniversary panel for “Breaking Bad” at Thursday’s Comic-con.

It was ten years ago that audiences were introduced to the two characters which went on to become one of the biggest pop culture icons in TV history.

And on Thursday, that chemistry between the two and the whole cast is as fresh and palpable as if time has not passed since. And there’s added bonus of course of Aaron Paul bringing his adorable baby to the panel.

Fans were understandably ecstatic to see the cast in panel to mark the neo-western crime television series’ 10th anniversay, which included Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Giancarlo Esposito, Bob Odenkirk, Betsy Brandt, RJ Mitte and show creator Vince Gilligan.

Set and filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico andran from January 20, 2008 through September 29, 2013 on AMC, the series was a huge hit and widely regarded as one of the bet ever.

And even after the show has ended, the show’s spirit is kept alive by “Better Call Saul”, a prequel which explodes that same world. In fact, just before this panel was the cast and creators of ‘Saul’ which discussed Season 4 and answer fan questions, and which also received a very warm reception.

“You will not see Walt or Jesse in Season 4,” Gilligan said, referring to fan speculation about the characters appearing in Better Call Saul, which is set to premiere August 6 on AMC. “I would suspect we would be sorely remiss if these characters didn’t appear on this show before it ended.”

“There’s definitely a chance Bob Odenkirk is going to be on ‘Better Call Saul,’” Cranston joked.

Hulu Drops Creepy Full Trailer For “Castle Rock”

By Creative Media Times

“You have no idea what’s happening here, do you?”

There is certainly no shortage of Stephen King film and tv series adaptation especially after the success of last year’s “It” as a new psychological-horror drama series “Castle Rock” gets a creepy new trailer today.

Set in the fictional Maine town of Castle Rock, the latest trailer features plenty of King references, including Cujo and IT among others.

It doesn’t hurt that the series features Bill Skarsgård, who had a big year in 2017 as Pennywise from the blockbuster phenomenon “IT”, this time playing “The Kid”, a mysterious, feral inmate discovered in a cage deep beneath Shawshank State Penitentiary.

From mega producer J. J. Abrams, in the series also stars André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek and Jane Levy.

Here is the show’s synopsis:

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Hulu has slotted the premiere of “Castle Rock” to July 25.
